Daughters of the American Revolution

July 4, 2006

Happy Birthday, America! Today we celebrate the 230th anniversary of our independence from Mother England. The most appropriate photo I had to mark the occasion is this view of Daughters of the American Revolution national headquarters, located across the street from The White House.

The DAR’s objectives are education, the promotion of patriotism and historical preservation. Only if you can prove that one of your ancestors was a patriot of the revolutionary war will you be considered for membership. That leaves me out. My ancesters only came here five generations ago.
