Black-eyed Susan

The Black-eyed Susan (rudbeckia hirta) is the Maryland state flower. In fact, the Black-eyed Susan will grow just about anywhere, making it one of the most common wildflowers in the United States. Many gardeners grow it because it’s great for attracting butterflies.

I love the past three photos. Morning doves visit my patio every single day, but I have never tried to take their picture.

Lovely flower. Is this your garden?

Elisabeth — I was just lucky that the dove sat still for enough time for me to take her picture. I was inside, shooting through the glass door, so she wasn’t aware of me.

Tanty — No, I live in an apartment. The flowers are outside a house in Old Town Alexandria,
